Thanks for sharing this, Greg. It’s too easy to get caught up in numbers and the daily minutiae. We’re dealing with human beings with personal stories, and career choices are one of the most personal decisions that someone will make. Understanding the very human experience of looking for a job can help both job seekers and companies.

This is one of the best articles I have read this year. You put in words what I felt is the right direction for our industry. Thank you!

Beautifully put, Greg – full of compassion. The tools and skills shared are critical but without heart, as you’ve framed it, the rest means little. As someone who has worked in outplacement meeting people on day of notification, thru workshops, coaching and recruiting – the tools used vary but at the end of the day we are people serving other people. If we lose sight of that – we enter the world of transactions – not human engagement. Thanks as always Greg for sharing all of yourself with us.
