Firstly, I would like someone to actually prove me wrong because I love Connectifier, but I’ve serious privacy concerns with Connectifier.

I’ve noticed that in the sidebar (Firefox / Chrome), it displays data that is already visible on the webpage. For example, my 1st connection on LinkedIn displays email, phone.. etc and Connectifier extracts that info and shows in the side bar. I feel the extension is collecting information from the pages we visit and uploading it to their database. Their privacy policy (https://www.connectifier.com/pp) also states this about “User Content” .

Information you provide us directly: We ask for certain information such as your username, first and last name, birthdate, phone number and e-mail address when you register for a Connectifier account, or if you correspond with us. We may also retain any messages you send through the Service, and may collect information you provide in User Content you post to the Service. We use this information to operate, maintain, and provide to you the features and functionality of the Service. Connectifier uses Web Site Navigational Information about and from Connectifier Users to operate and improve Connectifier’s Service. Connectifier may also use Web Site Navigational Information alone or in combination with data about and from Connectifier Users to provide personalized information from Connectifier.

Did you notice that it is able to find out when you contacted a person (probably thru LinkedIn note comments). It also puts some people as contacted, even though you didn’t mark it that way.

There’s no way to logout / close their account.

I’ve emailed them to ask if they are scraping the web pages I visit using their extension and building their database, or if they info they provide is through social data aggregation.

Is the extension sending out any information from my computer to their server????
